Machine Stress Tests
Description:
In this section, we study the behavior of the machine under high stress, varying multiple parameters (like CPU-bound processes and IO-bound processes) to stress it. In order to perform such tests, we used the open-source application that generates configurable and mixed workloads - Stress http://weather.ou.edu/~apw/projects/stress/.
As suggested in previous characterization papers, we boot the machines 1 and 2 using single user mode. Thus, no other services or users are activated, and we have a quite controlled environment to test.
We explore a range of possible scenarios varying the workload, cpu-bound processes, io-bound processes and mem-bound processes as a baseline for future use.
